Las Vegas (NV) – Hurricane (UT) – 222Km
Time to finally leave Las Vegas, but not after getting a brand new rear tire, and a new helmet at a motorcycle gears superstore. So it turned out that I bought the wrong first helmet. Way too big for me. Sales lady explain what were the risk and she believe I am a lucky guy. I don;t know about that, but now my ears are hurting a bit as I am much more ‘snug’ in the new one.
So on my way back toward Zion NP, I looped through ‘The valley of fire’ in the north of Vegas. It is a state park, and well worth it the extra miles. The rock formations here are spectacular, and the road is premium grade, while traffic is pretty light. temperature is getting on me, and when I finally hit the freeway again, I just make it straight into Hurricane before dawn.
At the local Motel 6 I met a guy from San Diego, who informed me of many road closure in the northern parks, such as Glacier NP. I was thinking to finish through there. Now it looks like I might have to revisit that plan.
