Aubrac plateau

  • by

Another transit day to a region of France close to my heart. I suspect that a trip in the Aveyron to visit the natural beauty of the Gorges du Tarn triggered something in me as a child. Since then I have visited many places and still want to see more. Until that trip in the mid-eighties I had seldom left my hometown.

So I am on my way to see that famous bridge which made the headlines a couple of years ago. The ‘Bridge of Millau’, but also ride the roads in the area which I know are simply crazy.

But for now I cross the Cantal yet again but in the south eastern direction this time. The idea was to cross the Plateau d’Aubrac. This is a rough piece of land at a rather high altitude where the winter can get really nasty. One of the nicest kind of cow lives there. And apart from rocks, nothing grows very well around.
